With a corn base of 68% and aging, at least 2 years in new white oak barrels burned inside, Bulleit is a true kentucky Straight Bourbon. Furthermore, the proprietary yeast strain proves to be a focal point in the creation of the unique distinctive taste of Bulleit Bourbon. It was 1987 when Thomas Bulleit Jr. left a successful law firm to devote himself to a dream, to revive an ancient family recipe, handed down by his great-grandfather, for the production of rye Bourbon. The first production of the family dates back to 1830-1860. The high content of rye gives it a strong and spicy character, with a nice clean finish. The Kentucky water used in the production confers the typical character of the bourbon, and the use of American oak barrels with intense roasting gives interesting notes of smoke. The aging philosophy is simple, wait for the Whiskey to be ready.
